Syndrome, Dynamic Hostmask

From Aber
Jump to: navigation, search

An irritating disease affecting mIRC users who let other people use their computers. These other people change the settings in mIRC so that their hostmask is different (usually affecting the "username" part). They then join the channel, fail to be recognised by the bot which will have their normal hostmask stored, and then proceed to accuse people of "taking away their ops". Related to the "Where are my ops?" program in the original Aber TV. Because of the highly technical nature of this problem, it can sometimes be difficult to cure, especially if the sufferer firmly believes that the problem lies with anybody else but them.
