Syndrome, Militant March
Militant March syndrome affects academic channels around March time each year, during the excrutiating spring term just after exams where people have mountains of work to do and nothing nice like Christmas or summer to look forward to. Wallets are also empty and tensions are running high. Something will happen on channel, for instance the bot will ban someone's friend by mistake, and this will trigger off a chain of events where people try to bring down the channel management, conveniently forgetting all the hard work they may have put in over several years, venting the frustration in their own lives on IRC. Several huge log files and newsgroup threads later, everything is back to normal, once people start to miss getting opped instantly and reliably when they join the channel.
