Syndrome, Mistaken Nationality

A close relative to the Dual Nationality Syndrome, this syndrome happens when that shiny red nationality lever somehow gets stuck on a single setting with the result that the sufferer becomes utterly convinced that they are from a country despite conclusive proof that they aren't, while developing a hatred of the country they really are from. The victim of this syndrome will then defend their right to be this new nationality by making up the most ridiculous and irrelevant reasons why they should be so such as, "well my mum and dad shagged there once - I could have been conceived then" or "I'm Welsh, it's not my fault I was born in England", thusly drawing much smirking and mockery from the rest of the channel. Retaliations such as "I'm a porcupine, it's not my fault my parents were human" are intended to make the sufferer realise just how ridiculous they are being but it usually just ends in sulking, petulant bitterness and accusations of racism.
